The YLOD or “Yellow Light of Death” is an indicator that your PS3 gives you to notify you of serious hardware and internal malfunctions.  When you see this error its imperative that you first, do not try to repair this error yourself, and second shut the PS3 down immediately.  The longer this error sits the worse your system will become, which potentially could mean the end of your system.  Don’t panic however!  Videogame911 can help you!  Make a repair order immediately and follow the instructions to get your system to us!  Make sure to package it well and ship the console to us as soon as possible.

When your system arrives at our warehouse it is immediately put in a queue for our detailed check-in and order confirmation process.  During this stage of our process we will inspect your system for any damage and create a report of our findings for your estimate. We will also take note of any accessories that you send with the system and document them with your order.  When you create your order, if you have any special requests or would like to inform your engineer of a desired update or upgrade, please indicate them in writing in your online order comments. At this point, the unit is setup and scheduled for bench time with our system engineers.

The system will then move to the next stage of our process which is diagnostics.  This step is where the engineer first gets a chance to bootup your system.  Your engineer will check the Power Supply, HDD, RAM Chips, GPU, CPU, A/V outputs and USB Ports. Of course if you are specific and will require additional testing, please just advise your engineer in wriring through your online order. Our detailed diagnostic process along with the symptoms you provide will allow the engineer a quick and efficient evaluation of your console that will be provided to you within 24 to 48 hours from receipt.  When you receive your estimate your engineer will provide a detailed estimate to inform you of the required fixes that need to be made on your console.  A full clear, concise and quick estimate is the goal of your engineer. Keep in mind, our engineers are gamers too, and they do everything they can to keep your data intact and safe throughout our processes.

Upon written approval or payment your system will immediately be scheduled for repair in the order in which payment is received.  We will then follow through with the repairs that we have specified in your online order.  Once repairs have been completed we will need to test your machine for at least 24 hours. We call this our quality assurance testing cycle. If you or your engineer feels that they would like more time to test the machine you/they will notify you in your online order.

When testing has been completed, our repair customers are entitled to free return shipping.  Packaging is always upgraded for our customers for the care and safety of your machine on its return trip.

We have had this situation come through our facility more times than we like to see. Don’t let friends drive drunk, and better yet, don’t let them try to repair a PS3. In this situation, bag and box the unit to protect the system when you send it for repair to our facility. When we receive, we will document and provide a full estimate for repairs as well as replacing any missing or broken parts caused by attempts at repair. Whatever the case, we have probably seen it and worse, so just get the unit to us so we can repair and return it to you.

This is common for many customers who use our services. We recommend a few items when having something inside of the unit which needs to be returned. When creating the order, in the symptom/description of the problem you are having, indicate the game title with your description of the problems and items you are sending in for repair. You can also include the empty game case with your shipment for your engineer to safely return the item after repairs are completed. In all cases, just login to your account with us and add order comments at any time 24 x 7. They will be time stamped and appear in blue. These go right to the technician who is working on your system in case you want to update him/her with any additional items related to YOUR system while at our facility. Your engineer will take care of everything for YOU.
